SMC are able to offer a variety of fork arms and fork arm accessories. As well as offering the standard FEM forks, we can also offer pin type and square hook type forks to any specification. In addition fork arms with bolted fixings and integrated attachment forks can be offered. In many cases where forks are supplied integrated in fork lift truck attachments weather they be our own or other manufacturers attachments we can replace just the worn fork blade, saving the costly replacement of the fork slider and anchor point hardware.
SMC do not manufacture FEM forks, but act as a UK agent for a leading overseas manufacture, i.e. purchasing and holding quantities for call off at competitive prices. Alternative fork sections / lengths are available and include forks upto 300 wide as well as fork groups to acheive even greater widths and capacities.
Further details about our forks will be added to this section.
Outside of the standard FEM forks there are many different methods and applications involving the fixing of forks.
Examples are Bolt-on , Pin type and square hook type , and intergrated forks on attachments.
Our telescopic forks enable warehouse capacities to be increased by the use of double deep racking, the potential increases in space can be upto 60%, when this is costed by the square meter it soon apparent that the cost of the attachment becomes insignificant relative to the savings. Telesopic forks are generally supplied for standard FEM mountings, but we can supply with long drop and alternative Non FEM methods. We can also supply these arms on a hydraulic fork positioner amongst other attachment types. Various lengths can be specified, with pallet stops to prevent pallets from dropping onto the internal fork blade, thus preventing loaded retraction of the blade. With out the pallet stops, double deep handling can be achieved.
Our fork extensions are available in numerous designs, from a simple lightweight folded channel design, to a fully enclosed box style for heavy duty and rotating applications. With the shoes being manufactured to order they can be offered in a limitless number of sizes.
Folding forks are specified for two main reasons. The first is where a lift truck needs to manouvred into a position that would otherwise be prohibitive with full length blades. Secondly where a pair of folding forks are used with a pair of standard forks such as a double pallet handling, the folding forks , usually mounted both on the outer or inner side of the plain forks can be retracted to enable only the standard fork used for one pallet
Lift drop forks can be used for a variety of reasons, however, a common application is where height restrictions exist and retrofitting of a freelift mast is cost prohibitive. Used independantely loads with an un even underside can be lifted without altering their attitude. When combined with fixed forks they can be used with patented drop bottom box systems.
Our toe stop design is a simple solution to preventing objects rolling from the forks arms. When not in use they are unrestrictive, and with the use of a screwdriver the stop can be flipped up for use. They are welded to the end of fork arms with a specified shorter taper.
